Now Hiring: Freelance Writer
Posted by Conor March 4th, 2012Lahaina.com is looking for a freelance writer to provide Maui-based website articles, reviews, news, opinion, and other content to the website. Pay will be $8 per article (minimum 250 words) plus $2 for a legal, quality additional image relating to the article.
Initially we are looking for up to 50 articles, which can be completed over a few month period, but based on the quality of work, we may look to continue the relationship. We will begin with two trial articles before moving on to a longer agreement of another 40-50 articles.
You may work remotely and merely need to submit the articles via email. However, writer must be based on Maui. All interested Maui writers, please contact us here.
Come Celebrate the Lahaina Banyon Tree’s 138th Birthday!
Posted by Conor April 13th, 2011The famous Banyan Tree of Lahaina will celebrate it’s 138th birthday on April 24th.
The tree was planted on April 24, 1873 by sheriff William Owen Smith to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the first Christian missionaries. It was brought from India, and at the time of planting, was only 8-feet high. It now has a dozen main trunks, and its canopy spreads over two-thirds of an acre between the Old Courthouse and Front Street. Today, the symmetry of the tree is maintained by volunteers. More »
