The Maui Arts & Cultural Center today announced that Aerosmith will rock the island of Maui in concert at 7 pm on Tuesday, October 20 at War Memorial Stadium. Gates will open at 4 pm. Aerosmith has sold over 150 million albums and won countless awards including four Grammy Awards, eight American Music Awards, and six Billboard Awards. Aerosmith will also perform on O‘ahu on Sunday, October 18 at Blaisdell Arena.
Aerosmith, the “Bad Boys from Boston” are healthy, rested and ready to rock. The group features Steven Tyler on lead vocals, keyboards, piano, harmonica, percussion; Joe Perry, on lead and rhythm guitars and background vocals; Brad Whitford, on rhythm and lead guitars; Tom Hamilton, on bass, rhythm guitar and background vocals; and Joey Kramer, on drums, percussion and background vocals. Over the years chart topping hits like: “Dude (Looks Like A Lady),” “Rag Doll,” “Janie’s Got a Gun,” “Walk This Way,” “Sweet Emotion,” “Dream On,” What it Takes,” “Angel,” “I Don’t Wanna Miss a Thing,” “Livin’ on the Edge,” “Back in the Saddle,” “Crazy,” “Amazing,” “Cryin’,” and “Jaded” have cemented Aerosmith into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
Immediately after inking the deal, Steven Tyler jumped on the phone with Tom Moffatt to share his excitement about the upcoming shows. When Moffatt asked about his health Tyler replied that he is “feeling great and everything is back to normal.” Tyler then mentioned to Moffatt that the band has been looking forward to coming to Hawai‘i since 1976. He wished to send a big “mahalo” to the fans for making a dream come true. “I’m going to be ‘mahallering’ my ass off on stage!” At the end of the conversation, Tyler simply requested fresh poi in his dressing room.
Aerosmith exploded onto the rock scene in the 1970s and never looked back. Known for their clean rock and dirty blues, they have become rock legends for a new generation of fans since the 2008 release of the video game Guitar Hero: Aerosmith Edition. The video game, which follows the career of Aerosmith by featuring significant songs that represent the band through various periods of their history spanning from their show at Mendon Nipmus Regional High School in 1970 to their Super Bowl XXXV halftime show in 2001. Guitar Hero: Aerosmith sold more than half a million copies in its first week and has grossed more than $25 Million. The success of Guitar Hero: Aerosmith is significant in bridging the gap between generations and teaching kids about music. "We’ve put a lot
of ideas into the game so that fans can have fun interacting with our music, getting inside our body of work and learning about the band’s history." stated Joe Perry.
