Due to a power outage in Wailuku this morning, the Department of Water Supply is requesting customers in Central and South Maui to conserve water today and tomorrow (April 20 and 21). The affected areas include Paia, Kuau, Spreckelsville, Puunene, Kahului, Wailuku, Waihee, Waikapu, Maalaea, Kihei, Wailea, and Makena.

Eddie Vedder is embarking on a U.S. solo tour starting June 8th in Albany, NY and ending July 2nd in Honolulu, HI. On June 29th, Vedder will play at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center in Kahului.
Recently, the Condé Nast Traveler released their readers rankings on the best spas in the United States, Canada and Mexico. For some reason, stress and the economy maybe, the readers gave their highest ratings ever for the spas.
The Hawaii Hotel Flash Report, a monthly publication put out by Smith Travel Research (STR) in conjunction with Hospitality Advisors, LLC, recently reported that hotel occupancy rates for the entire state of Hawaii this February were down by an average of 8.8% compared to February 2008. These are the worst figures for hotel occupancy in Hawaii since 1991. Maui was hit harder than the state average with occupancy down by 9.3%.
