In August of this year, Lahaina.com’s and Maui’s own, Kimi Werner, will go to Malibu to defend her Women’s national spearfishing title.
Her partner from last year, Andy Tamasese, will not able to make it this year, but she is lucky to have her cousin, Wayde Hayashi, step up to the plate and be her partner. They are both very excited to represent Hawaii and do their absolute best this year.
With her quest to go back to back, Kimi has been hard at work training for the upcoming competition, along with fund-raising to pay for her trip to Malibu and compete.
How can you help with the fund-raising efforts, you ask? Great question!
Kimi is selling off some of her customed made t-shirts that she personally designed with Kai Clothing. The t-shirt is named "Ho’i Mai" and it depicts a diver’s return to the surface. The shirts are available at Maui Sporting Goods (Oahu and Maui) and will soon be available at both Hanapa’a locations. You can also get the shirts online at www.kimiwernerart.com/?goto=fundraiser-for-nationals-2009&.The shirts are $15.00 (add shipping if ordering online) a piece and are available in sizes M-XXL.
Not only is it a good cause, but I personally bought one and the shirt rocks–quality comfort with a sweet design! Not only will you be supporting our Maui athletes, but looking cool at the same time.
