The Hawaii Hotel Flash Report, a monthly publication put out by Smith Travel Research (STR) in conjunction with Hospitality Advisors, LLC, recently reported that hotel occupancy rates for the entire state of Hawaii this February were down by an average of 8.8% compared to February 2008. These are the worst figures for hotel occupancy in Hawaii since 1991. Maui was hit harder than the state average with occupancy down by 9.3%.
