Lahaina Plantation Days, Then and Now

The Lahaina Restoration Foundation is proud to present a new event  titled, "Lahaina Plantation Days, Then and Now" which will take place at the Pioneer Mill stack on Lahainaluna road. The event is comprised of three days of activities and fun from July 30th through August 1st.

The event will feature entertainment by cultural groups and popular musicians, restaurant food booths, coffee garden, beer tent, a Kid’s Zone with nostalgic activities, historical displays and exhibits, a “Camp Reunion Tent” honoring those who lived and worked in the West Maui plantation camps, and a preview of the proposed Pu‘ukoli‘i Village project by Kaanapali Land Management Corp. which builds on West Maui’s past.

To go along with all of these wonderful activities, on Opening Night, there will be a documentary screened that highlights Lahaina’s rich history. The film is done by filmmakers, Eddie and Myrna Kamae, and  is titled "Lahaina: Waves of Change". The picture focuses on  Lahaina’s past as the capital of the Hawaiian Kingdom and its rich heritage in the sugar cane industry.

On Thursday, the movie will be screened at 8pm but the gates for the event will open  at 7pm and close at 9:30pm. On Friday and Saturday, the event will  start at 4:30pm and will be shutting down at 9:30pm. Admission on all three nights of the event is $3, seniors are $2 and keiki 12 and under are free. A special three day pass is available for $5. You can get tickets via online at www.lahainarestoration.org.

It looks like it will be a bunch of fun!
