The Lahaina Restoration Foundation has resumed its popular free walking tours of historic Lahaina town, offering visitors a fascinating look at the area's rich cultural heritage and ongoing recovery. Tours run every Tuesday and Thursday morning, departing at 9am from the Foundation's visitor center on Front Street.
The guided 90-minute walk covers roughly a mile of Lahaina's historic district, with stops at key landmarks including the site of the famous Banyan Tree, the old courthouse, Hale Pa'ahao (the old prison), and several sites important to Hawaiian royalty. Knowledgeable volunteer guides share stories spanning centuries — from Lahaina's days as the capital of the Hawaiian Kingdom, through the whaling era, and into the present day.
